Types of Data Collected

Data You Provide

Facelapse does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal information. All photos, videos, and timelapse content you create remain on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

Data Collected Automatically

When you use Facelapse, the following anonymous data is collected automatically to help us improve the app:

• Anonymous analytics (PostHog): A randomly generated UUID v7 is assigned per app install. We collect anonymous usage events (e.g., app opens, feature usage), device model, OS version, and app version. No IP addresses are collected. No identify() calls are made. This data is not linked to your personal identity.
• Crash reports (Sentry & Firebase Crashlytics): When the app crashes, diagnostic data is sent including crash traces, device information, and the anonymous install UUID. This helps us identify and fix bugs.

How We Use Your Data

The anonymous data we collect is used solely to:

• Understand how features are used to improve the app experience
• Identify and fix crashes and bugs
• Monitor app performance and stability

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Anonymous analytics data is processed by PostHog, and crash reports are processed by Sentry and Firebase Crashlytics — both solely for the purposes described above.

In-App Purchases

The "Unlock Facelapse" in-app purchase is processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information. Google Play's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.

Data Retention

Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 24 months. Crash report data is retained for up to 90 days. Since no personal data is collected, there is no personal data to delete.

Children's Privacy

Facelapse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal information, most data privacy rights (access, deletion, portability) do not apply. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. The anonymous analytics data collected via PostHog does not constitute personal information under the CCPA, as it is not linked to any individual identity and uses randomly generated identifiers.

European Residents (GDPR)

The anonymous data collected does not constitute personal data under the GDPR, as it cannot be used to identify an individual. No consent mechanism is required for anonymous analytics.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
